01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Located in the charming town of Sabaris, Pontevedra, O Parque is a delightful Galician restaurant, bar, and coffee shop that invites diners to immerse themselves in the rich culinary traditions of Spain’s northwest coast. Nestled at C. Victoria R. Cadaval, 2, this cozy establishment perfectly balances the authenticity of local flavors with a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere.

O Parque’s menu is a celebration of Galician seafood and hearty regional specialties, meticulously prepared to captivate both locals and visitors alike. Standout starters include the gloriously tender Pulpo de nuestras rías (€18.75), where the octopus melts on your tongue with a subtle touch of smoky paprika and olive oil, and the fresh, succulent Zamburiñas (€16.30), which offer a delicate sweetness that teases the palate. For those craving classic fried delights, the Calamares (€11.60) and the crisply golden Chipirones (€10.80) come highly recommended, their lightly battered exteriors giving way to tender, juicy seafood within.

O Parque’s appeal extends beyond its stellar seafood. The menu also features comforting Galician staples like Empanada (€6.80), bursting with robust flavors, and Huevos Rotos (€14.30), a rustic dish where perfectly fried eggs mingle with crispy potatoes—a dish that feels like a warm embrace on a plate.

The ambiance at O Parque is a cornerstone of its charm. Gerard Kelly’s memorable experience during the Spanish blackout captures the spirit beautifully—dim candlelight, a bustling crowd of locals enjoying a leisurely glass of wine or beer, and a sense of community that makes you feel instantly at home. The terrace, as noted by Mark Auchincloss, offers a tranquil spot with tables framed by a lively town square, making it ideal for a relaxed meal under the Galician sky.

Service here is more than friendly—it’s genuine hospitality. Javier, the owner, personally ensures guests are well cared for, enhancing the experience with local insights and attentive service, turning a simple meal into a lasting memory. Even pilgrims passing through appreciate the tailored pilgrim menu, noted for its freshness and quality, with fried calamari described by tolman geffs as the freshest they’ve ever had.

Whether you’re settling in for a hearty lunch after a day outdoors or enjoying a relaxed evening sampling the finest of Galician cuisine, O Parque offers an authentic taste of the region. The thoughtful inclusion of an English menu makes it accessible for international visitors, though be mindful that sometimes the lively music may rise above conversation-level volume, as July Sky observed.

In every bite, from the briny almejas (€11.50) to the sizzling gambas a la plancha (€15.40), O Parque encapsulates the soul of Galicia’s food culture. It is an inviting haven that seduces with its flavors, warmth, and spirit—perfect for anyone looking to savor the very best local fare in Sabaris.

For reservations or inquiries, you can reach them at +34 986 35 07 78. Experience O Parque and discover why it’s cherished by both locals and travelers alike, a true culinary gem off the beaten path.

We arrived in O Parque during the infamous Spanish blackout. Somehow the owners managed to create a very tasty meal for us despite the difficulties. The place was busy with locals enjoying a glass of wine or a beer by candlelight. Can highly recommend.

Excellent family run restaurant. Javier the owner is a master of how to look after the client. Good choice of drinks and homemade food. The terrace on frontis nice with tables in square. On some Sundays they have the puplo seller which is popular with locals.

This place was recommended by the hotel. The cod was great and well seasoned. The menu was available in English as well. The music coming from the TV was a bit too loud in my opinion. The price was appropriate, but higher than average.

A very good meal. A combination of tapas ... fried prawns, patatas alioli, octopus patatas and a main .. lamb chops with side salad and frites. Bread. All were well cooked and full of flavour. Two beers and a coke for just over €60. Nice atmosphere inside with a music video playing abd comfortable seating Plenty of outside seating in the small square. Lovely.
